We FINALLY know when Agave+ Azul will be opening and it’s NEXT WEDNESDAY, October 7th! Thanks to the determined Jorge Villasenor, who took the time to give us another look into the eclectic and upscale eatery, we will finally be having mimosas on the patio within the next couple weeks! Expect a limited menu, as next Wednesday will be a soft opening, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be blown away. Check out the pics of the completed INSIDE and OUT (below): as you can see, no expense was spared. So much thought was put into the detail of the designs, that were captured by our very own, Rachel Carter and we will look forward to bringing you continuous updates!

BONUS: Mr. Jorge shared with us that in the future they hope to have an area where kids can play while their parents are enjoying food on the patio! Possible spring of next year! A live music stage is another feature he hopes to implement!

More Images…
The past couple of months, I’ve been passing a mysterious, new spot that is in construction off of 210, and I’m sure you have too. I assumed it was some kind of new, Latin cuisine and my anticipation has been growing. I’m sure yours has too. I can see that its called Agave + Azul, but knew little to nothing else, except someone told me it has the same owners as our beloved Cancun Mexican, which is featured in our Ferry Food Finds! Well, leave it to me to let curiousity and excitement get the best of me. Hey, I love food and I love the ferry. I’m interested in ALL things FOOD and Topsail, so if there is something springing up, Im going to do my best to find out about it. So, I went on another field trip and paid a visit to the enigmatic Agave + Azul and found out that we are in for a truly special culinary and artistic treat!
a sight to see
I visited Agave on August 28th and had the pleasure of meeting the gracious owner named Jorge Villasenor, who is responsible for Camino Real Bar+ Grilll. A man who is truly passionate about his work, he gave me a grand tour and I was truly in awe at what is to come. The inside is absolutely breathtaking and has a modern, Mexican feel, as will the menu. I walked into what feels like an oasis, as real stone is featured, along with furniture made in Mexico…even the tile! Gorgeous, high top bars will offer a draft system AND a special type of organic tequila (my fav), called Mezcal. Wanna watch a live game? No problem! They not only have big screens but also a projector. It has some of the most beautiful Mexican paintings and art I have ever seen. Intimate but spacious seating is featured, with a modern twist that includes beaded, leather booths.
Hand-made tortilla station + MORE!
You read that right! Agave + Azul has a hand–made tortilla station and LED wall in the far-right corner where you will be able to indulge in as many hot and tender tortillas as you can handle! I am blown away by this feature and I have never been to a restaurant that featured this before. So unique and creative, I was truly amazed by the attention to detail and craft that has been poured into this spot. Just when I thought I couldn’t be more excited, Mr. Villasenor would reveal another plan, such as BRUNCH ON THE WEEKENDS! That’s right-Agave will serve weekend brunch, and who doesn’t love a good brunch?! What could be better? Eating it on the patio they are expanding and having an open and covered option!
an affordable experience
With all the jaw-dropping details, it could be easy to assume affording this experience will be a stretch, but Mr. Villasenor wants you to know that it will be an affordable, family experience that everyone in Topsail can enjoy. Expect a fresh and modern take on your Mexican favs and some new finds as well. But most of all, expect to be amazed and proud. Gaining unique spots like this in the Ferry is so exciting to me and I know it is for our coastal family too.
So what do you say? Will I see you there?
Forks up, Food down!
