We spent our Friday afternoon visiting a new gem in Hampstead. I didn’t know Burry Chocolates was now open until a neighborhood friend told me she was heading there for treats. Immediately, I invited myself to tag along. Homemade chocolates?! Let’s ROLL!
Friendly Family
When I arrived I realized this wasn’t my first time seeing the welcoming, log-cabin style building. Parking is ample, and outside it sits a life-sized, carved, wooden bear that dons sun glasses. I already liked this place. I loved the personalized benches that sat outside which are perfect for family pics or eating your newly bought treats. I also loved they had a sanitizing station outside.
Upon entering you are met with SO much cheer and warmth. They are happy you are here. They want to see you and help you find your hearts chocolate desires. And you will. From marzipan to marshmallow, they have it ALL. Caramel craving?! Sure. Ike picked out vanilla caramels, while my youngest became enamored with golden, chocolate coins. I eyed the peanut butter chocolates and knew my hubby would appreciate those whole heartedly.
The Real Chocolate Factory
Complimentary, homemade peanut brittle is at the front counter, cut up into pieces, for you to try. I know this, because Mr. Victor encouraged my kiddos to partake in it. I met him first. You could feel his smile through his mask. I went on to meet Mrs. BJ and Emily. Mrs BJ patiently waited while my inquisitive 10-year old took forever to pick his chocolate of choice. They informed me they had only opened on Tuesday and they had been swarming with people since. At least 80 people had been in every day and that was before this weekend. Bless their hearts. We ALL love chocolate and in a year like this, don’t we all need chocolate covered fruit?! But, get there before 2pm or they’ll be sold out! The empty case you see pictured, was full of it, but every day it goes the fastest.
The Perfect Bite
Well, we didn’t make it to the car because by the time we stepped out, my kids plopped down on the Burry bench and started clawing at the white carry out bag. The coins were first. Besides the fact that the aesthetics of them are beyond pleasing to a kid, they found them irresistible. I had to scold them about eating them back to back. They were thin, sweet, and tender. Next came the marshmallow and caramel. This is where I took my first bite and veered from my diet, which obviously happens a lot! Ooey, gooey chewy!!! 10/10!
