The Autumn with Topsail festival is almost here to help celebrate everyone’s favorite pumpkin-spiced season. Fall might look a little different here in Topsail, NC. Palm fronds and beach grass don’t turn orange and red. There is no nip in the air to speak of. Autumn here is unlike Autumn anywhere else and that’s why we celebrate it like no one else.
Come on. You didn’t think a little hurricane would stop the people of Greater Topsail from having a good time, did you? Florence might have packed a wallop, but this is a community that knows how to get right back on its feet.
Go ahead and erase that penciled question mark off October 20 and 21 on your calendar. The 30th Annual Autumn with Topsail festival is on schedule and gearing up to be our favorite year yet. And with the Assembly Building’s roof needing some TLC after Florence’s visit, this year’s Autumn with Topsail is all the more important for our seaside sanctuary.
Don’t think of it as charity, though. Just as in years past, there is a ton to see and do for the whole family and with a two-day adult pass costing only $8 it’s the best deal in town. There are activities for children including arts and crafts, face painting, and bouncy castles (and the kid’s entertainment is all free!). There will be beer and wine tents for mom and dad and bands performing as well. This year there will even be a blacksmith demonstration. Primarily a craft festival, potential vendors are painstakingly reviewed so that 120 of the best local and regional artists are represented. Just make sure to leave Fido at home for this one; only licensed service animals will be allowed on the festival grounds.
And one hot tip before you go: Make sure to get there early on one or both days. The Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 to 10:00 in the Assembly Building is the perfect fuel you’ll need for a full day of exploring, drinking, and dancing.
