This week I visited a tasty spot that you can dine in both directions of us! I tried the Wilmington location last weekend and honestly I didn’t have the highest expectations due to it being a franchised chain. My first love is, of course, local hole in the walls, but I will try any place at least once!
Mediterranean food has always been a love of mine. I love how it combines grilled meats and fresh veggies in its distinct flavor.

Any hummus lovers? Me too, but we know that all hummus is not created equal!

I love the plates, so I ordered the casado bowl (pictured above), which features: beef and lamb, basmati rice (my fav type of rice), black beans, plantains (WOW!), avocado salad, cilantro tahini sauce and parsley! First up, their portions are gargantuan! If you are visiting for the first time, just know you can easily share with someone (though you may not want to). They gave me a copious amount of meat, and I have never been to a medi-spot that served plantains with their plates. It was delicious, though I prefer mine fried a little harder. The black beans were a tasty surprise as well. As always, the salad was a highlight of the plate, because in my opinion no one does a salad like the Mediterraneans.
I also tried their falafel, which is another fav of mine and it was wonderful. Crispy on the outside, tender chickpeas on the inside.

My hubby ordered the traditional greek gyro (pictured above), which most of us know and love, and let me tell you, it was so big, the pita bread could hardly close. I have never had a gyro that was so jam packed. The pita bread was soft and tender, and the meat was once again bursting with flavor. The combo of the delicious, seasoned meat with kalamata olives, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce is simply undeniable.

Food facts:
- Tzatziki is a dip, soup, or sauce made of salted strained yogurt mixed with cucumbers, garlic, salt, and olive oil. Sometimes vinegar or lemon juice is added with herbs, such as dill, mint, parsley, and thyme. Like tahini, it has a very fresh flavor, but it is not as strong.

- Tahini is a condiment made from toasted ground hulled sesame and is a major component in hummus. It has a very fresh and distinct flavor.

- Falafel is a deep-fried ball, made from ground chickpeas, fave beans, or both
