Coming in HOT: Agave Azul Modern Mex & Cantina
Most of you know that when Agave Azul made its landfall in the Ferry, we were there to cover it. Anticipation was at an all-time high, as Sneads Ferrians waited on a brand new eatery to bless our beach abode…
We met the owner, Jorge, and we marveled at the unique and modern take he was bringing to its decor and the menu. We even took tours of the inside, but it was awhile before we got to dine in. Why?! Because it’s been SWAMPED. It’s definitely ’the new and shiny toy’ that every kid wants to spend time with right now. There’s never a time I pass it, when it’s not packed, especially on weekends. But, I discovered the sweet spot to go is after lunch and before dinner.
When I finally dined in, our visit was filled with prompt service and delicious eats ALL around!
What Leah Loved at Agave Azul:
- Carne asada fries- what makes a good specialty fry, is when the fries themselves are actually quality and good…and these are! Topped with tender asada, melted cheese, pico, and guacamole!
- Cilantro cream cheese enchiladas: I’m an enchilada fanatic! They were creamy, tender, and the sauce was flavorful! I also suggest adding shrimp!
- Sampler dip: queso, spicy salsa, corn pico, and my FAV, CHORI-Queso!!!
- Beef chimichanga-crispy and tasty! My son devoured it! Fried FRESH!
Time for Tequila!
Agave Azul also has amazing MEZCAL margaritas!!!! Jorge had explained to me prior to their opening, that they would offer mezcal, a special tequila cooked inside earthen pits. If you know me, you know that tequila is my liquor or choice, so for me this was so exciting. They offer Mezcal- Rita’s in the following flavors:
- Smoky Mezcalito
- Spicy Berry Mezcal
- Azul Mezcalito
This is in addition to specialty drinks, house margaritas, frozen margaritas, and hand crafted margaritas.
They have DAILY SPECIALS and offer WEEKEND BRUNCH.
