This weekend has been a whirlwind of food flavor and it’s prompted me to start yet another series: Food Truck Files. Yup, it’s necessary to give them their own space. Food trucks are jewel to me: a rolling vehicle that has a niche, a speciality, of a certain kind of food that you can walk up and grab. And it’s always personal too, because oftentimes they are run by families, so I love learning their stories. So come on, let’s take a trip to Thailand with Jasmine Tasty Thai for our first stop!

Jasmine Tasty Thai has been coming to our area for awhile now. I know this because every time they drive in, I am there. From the Salty Turtle Beer to the Crooked Lotus, I’m standing in line for the red Thai chicken curry. And you should too…because you’re going to get FULL flavor and large portions, and it’s at a price point significantly lower than your sit-down Thai restaurants.
They are friendly and kind. On my last visit, I barely made it before 9pm because we were coming from Hampstead for football practice. I was determined to get my fix though. When we arrived, at 8:30 they were packing up as I approached them, and they told me they were out of chicken curry but they quickly told me it was okay and that there was still beef basil, Pad Thai, and spring rolls they would gladly prepare for me. They took my order and chatted with my family with smiles on their faces.

Jasmine Tasty Thai’s Menu
JTT offers a smaller menu, but it’s jam-packed full of Thai staples, and ALL of them are good!
- Crispy spring rolls
- Chicken fried rice
- Shrimp Pad Thai/ Chicken Pad Thai
- Beef basil
- Chicken red curry

My favs: either protein option of the pad Thai and the beef basil. I get both spicy because I love the heat. They ask you to choose 1-5 as far as spice. I choose level 3. I am a huge lover of basil so the beef basil (pad gra prow), stir fried beef with basil, is phenomenal to me. It’s served over hot white rice and is such a comfort food. The crispy spring rolls are fried to perfection and full of veggies and rice noodles.
